About the Active Life Awards

Begun by Sir Sigmund Sternberg, the Active Life Award honours the achievements of individuals over the age of 70 who have excelled in charitable endeavours both in the UK and abroad.

Each year the public is invited to nominate people who have made exceptional contributions in their communities or in wider public life after the age of 70.

Those nominations are then reviewed by a panel of judges with six nominees being selected to attend a high-profile awards ceremony, there is one overall winner.

The judging panel is chaired by Sir John Ritblat and includes: Barbara Mills KC, Lord Denis Stevenson, Sir Trevor Phillips, Baroness Camilla Cavendish, Suki Ritblat and Rebecca Willis.
